The Ministry of Lands has directed the reopening of boundaries on a disputed piece of land in Kigo Wakiso between tycoon Hamis Kiggundu aka Ham and the Buganda Land Board.

Ham through his company Kiham Enterprises and Buganda Land Board (BLB) have been embroiled in a row over land measuring over 100 acres neighbouring Mirembe Villas and Serena Hotel Kigo.

Buganda Land Board has on several occasions accused Ham of illegally holding land titles of the land, however, credible reports indicates that Ham is the rightful owner of the land and BLB is fraudulently claiming its ownership.

In a meeting held at ministry of lands on Thursday 2nd June 2022, it was resolv3d that a final symposium be convened on Tuesday 14th June 2022 after which all parties and the ministry shall process with joint boundary opening survey to fully resolve the matter.

In aletter dated 24 May 2022 directed to CEO BLB signed by Opio Henry Ogenyi for ministry of lands Permanent Secretary which Parrots UG has seen, on the overlaps between Kyadondo Block 723 plot 38 and Kyadondo Block 273 plots 23974, 23975, 23976, and 24977, the ministry directed opening of the boundaries.

“There is need for boundary opening of plots 23974, 23975, 23976, and 24977 in relation plot 38 all Kyadondo Block 273”, read excerpts of the letter from ministryof lands

The boundary re-opening activities are expected to kick off on Tuesday 14th June, 2022, with a meeting between the grieved parties and ministry of lands.

However, Buganda Land Board which claim Ham is occupying the Kabaka’s land is maliciously spreading falsehoods and propaganda that the ministry of lands concluded that Kigo land belongs to them.

“The ministry called for a joint boundary opening and scheduled dates for the meeting. However, to everyone’s surprise, BLB fraudsters are already spreading falsehoods and propaganda that the ministry of lands concluded that Kigo land belongs to BLB,” said Kiham

He added; “This undermines all fundamental values of Buganda as the kingdom, Ugana as the country and the intergrity of our King.”

According to Ham, the issues at Kigo Land are technical thus requiring technical approaches to end them.

“This is a technical issue that requires technical approaches and procedures not cheap politics, propaganda and blackmail to unlawfully, fraudulently and disrespectfully steal the land of ordinary Ugandans and Kabaka’s subjects.” Ham explained
