Western Uganda filmmaker Hamim Matov alias Jet Ham, whose work included Joan (Omuntu Ow’omunda), Love to Sorrow and King of Kings that was nominated in Janz Awards last year in the regional category had passed on.

The Janz-Award nominated film producer, screenwriter and actor at his funded Green Love Films Production in Ibanda district also had been partnering with Field Motion Films (FMF films Uganda) based in Bushenyi dustrict.

He died on Sunday evening at Mbarara referral hospital in Mbarara City, his long-time friend told Parrots UG.

Although no cause of death has been given by the doctors at Mbarara referral, the deceased friend Barnabas Nasasira Kifefe said in a facebook post that Matovu had succumbed to liver complications

“A strongman who has been stopped by liver damage, we last talked on Wednesday when he was on his sick bed. Hamim has always been positive to get out of the complications which had put him on sick bed for last two months after he was operated few years ago,” Nasasira Kifefe said

Agnes Tayebwa, an actress at FMF films Uganda said “I will remember Hamim Matovu in many positive ways. “with a big smile and a great sense of humor, always great with a story.”

She eulogized the deceased as he biggest and strong bridge for many in the industry.

“…you banked on your promising plans for the movie industry and your own plans, Rest well Hamim!” Nasasira Kifefe mourned.

Love To Sorrow, one of the fims produced by Hamim Matovu partnering with FMF films Uganda

“He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed,”  Matovu’s OB at Valley College eulogized

The burial of Matovu is slated to tomorrow  27th June in Bugarama Ibanda District.
