Two pupils of Rwengiri Primary School in Kigarama Sub-county, Sheema District, were struck dead by lightning during a heavy downpour on Thursday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as Isabella Kemigisha, a Primary Three pupil, and Benson Bainomugisha, who was in Primary One.
According to reports, the incident occurred while learners were in their classrooms during the storm.
Eyewitnesses said a bolt of lightning struck suddenly, throwing the pupils into panic.
Fifteen other pupils sustained injuries and were rushed to Bushenyi Medical Center (BMC) in Kabwohe for treatment. Medical personnel at the facility said the injured were responding well to treatment.
By press time, Police was yet to issue official statement regarding the incident.
