PARLIAMENT:
The Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has again raised matters of concern of the missing Ugandans allegedly kidnapped by the security during and after the January elections.
During a parliamentary plenary yesterday, the LoP implored the deputy speaker Rt Hon Annet Annita Amongi to summon ministers in charge of internal affairs and those of defense to appear before the house.
Mathias Mpuuga “In #PlenaryUg, I amplified our demand for the state to account for the lives of Ugandans whose whereabouts remain unknown since their abduction by the state. I also updated the House abt the condition of Hon Sseggirinya who’s not just sick but ILL. Hon Ssewanyana is also sick.” @MathiasMpuuga tweeted.
Mpuuga argues that despite an earlier directive to appear and give an account about a list of citizens, especially National Unity Platform supporters who disappeared over a year ago, no explanation has been given today.
He has now asked the speaker to ensure this is done for the good of the families of the missing persons.
In response, the deputy speaker revealed that she has already summoned the concerned ministers to her office where a meeting will be held to iron out the issue before a position is communicated before the house.
