A third-year student from Makerere University tragically lost her life in a road accident on Wednesday afternoon (May 28), in Iganga district.
The deceased, identified as Miriam Tikiboneka, was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English and Literature, and was currently undertaking her school practice at Bukoyo Secondary School.
According to a WhatsApp message seen by this reporter, the accident occurred at around 4:00 PM as Miriam was on her way home from school. She was reportedly knocked by a speeding trailer along a busy road in Iganga. Attempts to save her life were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fellow students described Miriam as a dedicated, humble, and aspiring educator who had a promising future ahead of her.
By press time, neither police nor the university had issued out any official communication regarding Miriam’s sudden death.
