BUHWEJU
Police in Buhweju District are holding a man accused of detonating a grenade at his home in an alleged attempt to kill his wife.
The incident happened in Kyankanda village, Rwengwe sub-county, Buhweju district.
Godfrey Tumwebaze, the deputy RDC of Buhweju District, only identified the suspect as Twijukye.
Tumwebaze explained that the woman was standing in front of their house when the grenade exploded, but she survived unhurt.
It is alleged that the grenade was brought home by Twijukye’s late father, who had served in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and participated in the war against Joseph Kony, in Northern Uganda.
Further reports, indicate that the suspect had a long-standing domestic wrangle with his wife. Twijukye is currently held at Bwoga police station as investigations into the matter continue.
