In a move that has been anticipated by many, Manchester United has parted ways with their head coach Erik ten Hag following a series of poor results.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future,” read part of the club’s statement.
According to Sky Sports, former PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will temporarily take charge of the Red Devils, assisted by the current coaching team, until a permanent replacement is found. Van Nistelrooy, who won the Johan Cruyff Shield with PSV, is expected to restore the glory days reminiscent of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.
Ten Hag, who was appointed in April 2022, led Manchester United to two domestic trophies, the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. These achievements had initially safeguarded his position, but the recent downturn made his departure inevitable.
Van Nistelrooy now faces the challenging task of turning around United’s fortunes and bringing them back to their former glory.
