The Mbarara Archdiocese is set to commemorate the life and legacy of their Emeritus Archbishop Paul Kamuza Bakyenga today, marking one year since his passing. The archdiocese has invited the public to join in the spiritual and ritual commemoration, which will take place at the archdiocese.
According to a letter from the Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Servenius Ndugwa, those who cannot attend the ceremony in person are encouraged to participate in the ceremonial intentions at their respective Catholic parishes within the archdiocese.
Archbishop Bakyenga was a renowned spiritual leader who served the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mbarara for many years. He was born on June 30, 1944, in Bumbaire Village, Igara sub-county, Bushenyi District. He attended various schools, including Ibaare Primary School, Kitabi Seminary, and Bukalasa Minor Seminary, before being ordained as a priest on July 11, 1971.
Throughout his career, Archbishop Bakyenga served in various capacities, including as a priest, bishop, and archbishop. He was known for his dedication to his faith and his community, and his legacy continues to inspire many.
The commemoration ceremony is a testament to the impact Archbishop Bakyenga had on the lives of those in the Mbarara Archdiocese and beyond. It is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate his life, while also reflecting on the values and principles he embodied.
