Mohammed Kakiika, the headteacher of Vienna College Namugongo has asked prospective graduands at Ndejje University to desist from comparing themselves to their peers and succumbing to pressures from their families and society.
“Resist peer pressure, drawing comparison and the need to succumb to family/society expectations that is the get rich quick scheme,” Kakiika
Kakiika was speaking at the University 10th Commencement Lecture held at MTN Arena Lugogo on Friday.
He urged graduands to make wise decisions which will determine their future.
“Graduands you are at crossroads, reflect on which way to take. Remember that the decisions you make will determine your immediate well being and the future.” Kakiika said
He also encouraged students to choose career goals but not only courses the University has taught them as it’s their mandate to translate it into skills.
The annual Ndejje University Commencement Lecture is an event that brings together prospective graduands of the university for expertise talks. The lecture’s main goal is to deliver a speech that enthrals the hearts of the graduands and ultimately commissions them into professional transition and the labour world.
This year’s event was organised under the theme “Entrepreneurship and creativity, Breaking Professional Boundaries and Limitations”
Among other keynote speakers was Frederick kakembo ( PhD). He asked graduands to be dependable and brilliant inorder to improve their working relations as a way to stop time wastage.
The University was first established in 1992 which later gained status in 1995 under the leadership and ownership of the Anglican Diocese of Luwero in Buganda region , it also serves as the oldest private University in Uganda .
