Mohamood Hassan scored a hat trick as Uganda Police FC overcame Mbarara City FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
Mbarara City took a 27th-minute lead when Reuben Kimera lost the ball which eventually landed in Jude Ssemugabi’s path who created space and slotted past Police’s goalkeeper Tom Ikara.
The cops responded with 3 minutes left to end the first stanza through Hassan to make it 1-1 at the half time break.
Hassan scored a brace in the 61st minute to hand the hosts a 2-1 lead and earned a hat trick seven minutes later to stretch their lead to a 3-1.
George Kiryowa, who joined the Cops from Spartan FC in the Third Division, was given his debut by head coach Abdalla Mubiru.
A 3-1 win sends the cops to the fourth position on the log with 23 points while Ankole Lions stands Thirteenth on the Uganda Premier League table with 10 points.
Abdalla Mubiru men will trip to SC Villa on Saturday evening as Ankole Lions host Vipers at Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara on Saturday afternoon.
