The magistrate court in Masaka has sent on remand two opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) MPs, Muhammad Ssegirinya a.k.a Mr. Update (Kawempe North) and Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) to Kitalya maximum prison on allegations of having hand in Masaka murders.
“Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana charged with four counts, 3 of murder and 1 of attempted murder. They will spend 108 days on remand before their hearing but will be appearing every after 14 days.”
The duo were on Tuesday arraigned in court and charged with four counts related to machette- wielding killings in Masaka region.
They have been charged with four counts, with three being of murder and one of attempted murder.
It should be recalled that they were summoned to record statements over the murders last week, summons which they complied to on Monday September 6, but released on bond and asked to return to court on Tuesday September 7.
On Tuesday, while appearing before the magistrate court, the MPs were remanded to Kitalya Prison, until September 15, 2021.
