Former Kagoma county member of parliament and Ex-Vice Chancellor of Busoga University, Prof. Frank Nabwiso has openly criticized allegations by the Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago that the Elders Committee Report presented today at the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) 16th National Council Meeting was doctored.

On Friday, the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago told journalists that the report by the committee that was instituted to investigate the suspicious money allegedly received from President Museveni by FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi and party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat was doctored by the latter.

“There is a report to deliver today, unfortunately, the reports we are getting is that the reports that is supposed to be delivered today has been in the possession of the accused group (Nandala Mafabi and Patrick Amuriat) for almost two weeks. They have doctored it and want to use this kind of scandalous methods of sailing through this process,” Lord Mayor alleged.

The allegations have however been outrightly rejected by the committee Chair Prof Nabwiso stating Lukwago should approve his allegations to the public.

“He who says that it was doctored should be the one to tell who doctored the report and in whose favour,” Nabwiso challenged.

He added; “I don’t know why the Lord Mayor Lukwago came here and did not participate in the meeting.”

Hassan Kaps Fungaroo, former legislator for Obongi county said the money that is causing fights within the FDC did not come from the State House as alleged by section of the party members.

“There is a resolution of the working committee meeting that was chaired by the then party central deputy president, Hon. Joyce Nabbossa Ssebugwawo authorized the committee to borrow money. The question now is where the money was borrowed from. That has not been disclosed.” Hon. Fungaroo said

On another hand, the former Leader of Opposition and member of Parliament for Gulu City, Hon. Betty Aol Ocan expressed gratitude for the findings of the report and called for forgiveness between the two antagonistic factions.

“The allegations that came up were not put in the right forum. The elders gave us findings of their report and as the people who were involved in these conflicts we are satisfied with the report. It is just forgiveness,” Aol said

“The truth was there were some transactions but that we must forgive and move on. We cannot allow the party to be stagnant and move backwards. But we warn the people who have tampered the party. If one person decides to leave the party, it should be an individual decision.” She added.
