Following the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party Katonga faction’s resolution to dissolve the party and create a new entity, their counterparts at Najjanankumbi have dismissed the resolution and laughed at the Katonga faction leaders labeling them disgruntled “rabble-rousers”

On Monday, members of the FDC Katonga faction resolved during their 8th delegates conference to dissolve their party according to Article 36 (1,2,3&4), and create a new formation. This decision follows a bitter split from the main FDC group at Najjanankumbi over allegations of mismanagement, misuse of office, and illegal funding.

Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary General of the Najjanankumbi based faction said on Monday evening that the FDC is a legally registered political party with recognized leaders.

L-R: FDC founding President Col Dr. Kizza Besigye (Rtd), Kampala Lord Mayor and party interim president Erias Lukwago and SG Harold Kaija during the Katonga faction delegates conference on Monday.

“The Forum for Democratic Change party is a Duly registered party with the Electoral Commission of Uganda, as by Law required, and returns of office bearers are duly filed with the Electoral Commission, of which none of the so called “officers” of the party is an office bearer as they claim to be, ” said Nandala.

He dismissed a Monday’s National Delegates Conference of rival faction members as “attention seeking” and “theatrics”.

According to Nandala, Katonga leaders including Amb. Wasswa Birigwa and Erias Lukwago are not legitimate office bearers, calling them postures and masqueraders who have no authority to convene any meeting and or conduct any business on behalf of the party.

Mafabi described the meeting as a gathering of “disgruntled rabble-rousers” and urged the public not to be misled by their actions. He also criticized Lukwago, who he referred to as the “ring leader”, for his alleged role in the Kiteezi tragedy and his perceived incompetence as a leader.
