Locals in Kwania district are worried about the safety of water that is consumed in the area.
The worry follows revelation by one of the locals that the water supplied by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation is unsafe for domestic use.
Tom Ogwal, a resident of Adyeda trading centre, Teduka ward, Aduku town council reported that the supplied water is contaminated with worms. He alleged that on 4th May, 2024, he collected water from public tap and that it was contaminated.
Residents claim that they have been spending a lot of money to treat waterborne diseases such as typhoid because of consuming this unsafe water.
Further reports indicate that NWSC has since dispatched a team of technical staff to assess the condition of the alleged water supply.
Sheila Kyomugisha, the NWSC manger for Aduku branch said during an interview with local media that their team has already collected samples of the water for screening.
She noted that this is the first time they are receiving complaints about the quality of water supplied in Aduku and asked the public to remain calm as they find out a lasting solution.
