The FDC interim president and Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City, Erias Lukwago has said the party will continue working together with other forces of change despite allegations of merger with NUP.
Addressing journalists on Thursday 11th January,2024 at their offices on Katonga road, Kampala, the Lord Mayor refuted propaganda that leadership at Katonga wants to sell the party to NUP. He said the propaganda is meant to create wedget between the two parties and other forces of change.
“I want to assure you that as long as I am still the acting president of FDC, your party will remain solid,” said Lukwago.
He said that they are committed to building a united front which according to him doesn’t not presuppose merger of parties.
Since August 2023, there have been speculations of merging FDC with NUP . This was after former FDC president, Dr. Kizza Besigye and his Katonga faction leaders accused Najjanankumbi group of receiving money from unknown sources purpotedly from president Museveni to weaken the party.
