KAMPALA
As supporters of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) subscribing to the Najjanankumbi faction are set to start picking expression of interest forms for various elective potions effective tomorrow Friday 12 January, 2023, their rivals at Katonga have issued a sturn warning against hoodwinks by the former.
Erias Lukwago, the acting President of FDC Katonga group says the party has no any arrangements to start identifying prospective flag bearers warning members to stay away from programmes by the people he described as “imposters” who are still hold into at Najjanankumbi.
“That is not our party program. Nobody should hoodwink you into thinking that we have issued forms for expressions of interest to begin jostling for party leadership positions. That program is not for FDC. Whoever indulges in the same, you’re in the frolic of your own,” Lukwago said.
During their 1st National Council meeting last year on December 15, the new FDC leadership at Najjanankumbi resolved to start identifying potential candidates for all elective potions ahead of the 2026 elections.
On December 30, the part issued a notice calling for persons willing to contest on the FDC ticket to pick expression of interest forms at Najjanankumbi and online on the official party website effective January 12, 2024.
“…We extend an open invitation to all individuals interested in contesting under FDC flag to express their interest from January 12, 2024,” read a notice in parts.
According to the party, this is being done to enable them to make early preparations for the 2026 general elections. Nonetheless, the Katonga group insists that the program is out of the party scheduled activities calling in members not to take part in it.
In addition, Lukwago urged the media and members of the general public not again to ask about their relationship with Najjanankumbi noting that in the new year, they are still envisaged to pursue the vision of the FDC than wasting time doing unnecessary exchanges.
The FDC party leadership at Najjanankumbi is yet to respond to the allegations of Erias Lukwago.
