Ntare School has experienced its first strike under the new head teacher, Mr. Saul Rwamporo. Following an incident of extreme indiscipline amongst the Senior Six students last night, the Management of Ntare School has indefinitely suspended all Senior Six students.
Rwamporo said he called for the police to escort them out of the school premises after they had become unruly.
The incident involved the destruction of school property, including the recently installed CCTV cameras around the school.
Headteacher Saul Rwamporo confirmed that two students of Senior Six were found with mobile phones, which is against the school’s rules and regulations. When these two students were expelled, the rest of the Senior Six protested.
Rwamporo revealed to us that the organs of the school would first sit and decide when the students would return to school. It remains unclear how long the students will be suspended, and what measures the school will take to address the issue of indiscipline amongst Senior Six students.
The suspension of Senior Six students is a significant move by the new Headteacher, who took over from Mr. Jimmy Turyagyenda on May 16, 2023, after serving in the same position for ten years. The incident highlights the challenges that Rwamporo faces in maintaining order and discipline within the school, especially amongst the Senior Six students.
The suspension of Senior Six students has drawn mixed reactions from the public, with some lauding it as a necessary measure to restore order, while others criticizing it as an overreaction. As the school’s organs decide on the fate of the students, many are left wondering what will become of the future of Ntare School.
