Unknown assailants brutally murdered National Unity Platform (NUP) supporter and dumped his body into an eucalyptus forest in Mitooma district.

The deceased was identified as Anselm Nimusiima aka Omurongo, 28, a resident of Katakondwa, Ryansana I village, Kashenyi ward, Ishaka Bushenyi municipality in Bushenyi district, and a businessman dealing in butchery and Boda Boda. The alleged assailants went away with a motorcycle which was used by the deceased.

The Mitooma District Police Commander, SP Olum Samuel confirmed the reports stating that that the incident occurred on Friday night (January 17) in Nyamiyaga I village, Kirembe Parish, Katenga sub county in the Mitooma district.

“On Saturday 18th January, 2025, at around 10am, I received information from Tumwesigye Deus that a dead body of an unidentified person was found dumped in the eucalyptus forest neighboring that of Sajja Babisigaho. The report was registered at CPS Mitooma and inquiries commenced immediately,” SP Olum said.

Olum said the body had multiple injuries and some exhibits including a broken knife with blood stains were recovered at the scene.

“The deceased’s head was shuttered with a blunt object, the deceased also had sturbed wounds on the cheek, head, right hand and around the nose,” SP Olum said.

Police recorded statements from eyewitnesses and introduced a sniffer dog but could not track the scent after tracking for about 150 metres from the crime scene to the main road. He alleged that the assailants used a Boda Boda or vehicle to flee.

Body was taken to Kitagata Hospital mortuary for post mortem meanwhile, as investigations are ongoing.

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine alleges that the deceased has been receiving life threats for supporting NUP.

“We have been told that Nimusiima has been getting threats for defiantly identifying with us through his dress-code and activities,” he said.
