WAKISO

A staff at the Office of the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) is on the spot over illegal acquisition of land Shs 11m from the party cadres by false pretence.

The official only identified as Doreen reportedly used her powers to take away the land belonging to one of the brother’s of Asuman Lubega, the NRM Chairman of Nakasero IV Parish in Kampala central after she promised to help him evict the tenants that had settled on the land despite frequent calls to vacate.

Lubega confided to this publication that his Brother (name hidden), had a Land estimated to be covering over ten acres in Bweyogere Wakiso District but was taken away cheaply without paying any penny by Doreen, who claimed she works with ONC office in Kyambogo and the State House stating that she had access to President Museveni which would ease the process.

“We wanted to chase away people on our land because they settled on it without our consent and they refused to give us “Busuulu”. So, we decided to chase them away such that we use it for productive work. We wanted to build a fuel station, we opted to reach out to Doreen because she told us that she has connections ,” Lubega said

He added, “She asked for Shs 11 million to kick start the process of chasing away all tenants from the land” Lubega says

“Doreen told my brother that the president appointed her in ONC office to help his people and she has powers to direct all security officers in State House to give justice to Ugandans on condition that he paid her some little money, which my brother accepted.”

According to Lubega, the accused official failed get the land back to the owners and attempts to have her repay the 11 million shillings she got from Lubega’s brother have remained futile.

He says that they are instead seeing new buildings being erected on the land and are denied access to it. He alleges that Doreen is the owner of the new buildings on their land. This he says is a more serious crime than the tenants refusing to vacate the land: And it is an abuse of presidential office power and a deliberate obstruction of justice.

“I was even more shocked to see the story on Television that the same office (ONC) it’s members are fighting with our singer(NRM) Nsereko Emmanuel a.k.a Munamasaka who is organizing the 79 birthday of H.E Yoweri Kaguta M7 slated on 08/September/2023 at Kololo independence ground… This therefore, means members of that office are only fighting NRM and president Museveni to collapse,” he urging the party national chairman, YK Museveni to dismiss them as soon as possible in order to have the office being run by genuine people who love NRM and it’s members.

Asuman Lubega, NRM cadre whose brother (identity not disclosed) was dubbed by the ONC staff

“Am not afraid of anything because Museveni know me personally,he paid for me the ticket to go to mecca and he second me to lead prayers with pastor Bujingo at his son General Muhoozi Kenirugaba’s 48th birthday celebrations at Kololo, even if they call me at state house still I’ll say the same story, my brother’s land was taken away by self seekers using his office at Kyambogo as well as his name” Lubega adds

“What pains me most am a pure NRM member but our money and land was grabbed by NRM members moreover working in ONC office which is NRM office so I ask president to help us get Justice.” Lubega noted.
