One person has been announced dead after a bus belonging to Jaguar bus company crashed into buildings at Doctor’s Referral Hospital in Ntungamo district.
The tragic incident happened on March 20 at around 2pm in Rubaare Town Council, Ntungamo district when the bus registration number UBF669G lost control and rammed into another motor vehicle registration number UAH214S that was heading to Kabale from Ntungamo before it crashed into the hospital buildings.
Eye witnesses say the driver lost control of the bus towards the hospital forcing the bus to enter into a lane of motor vehicles from Ntungamo to Kabale proceeded to the right hand side and crashed into the hospital yard where it also damaged other stationary vehicles, metallic building door and windows.
One person died on spot and two others sustained minor injuries in the accident according to the Rwizi region police spokesperson ASP Samson Kasasiira. He identified the deceased as Victor Asiimwe, a driver of to the rammed motor vehicle UAH215S while the casualties are Arinaitwe Bruno 36, a resident of Kabale town, and Nsabimana Tomas 50, a resident of Kasangati Wakiso district both passengers on the bus.
Other damaged vehicles include UAV023N Toyota Noah white, UAY087Y Nissan, ambulance belonging to Doctor’s referral hospital Rubaare, UAZ572G T/Harrier, UBB799Y Toyota premio, UBF930Q Toyota Wish, UEC594 Saloon and UAK463U.
According to Kasasiira, the driver of the bus took on the heels immediately after causing the accident but police have started a manhunt to get him arrested and charged.
The damaged motor vehicles were taken to Rubaare Police station subject to IOVs inspection and inquiries are ongoing under reference number TAR 06/2023.
