A single accident was registered yesterday 8th of August at 10pm at Kufu along Manafwa- Mable road.
According to SP Kananura Micheal-PRO traffic&road safety the accident involved tata lorry belonging to Busuku Corporative Enterprises lost control and overturned.
“It is alleged that the driver of M\V reg no UBJ 994J Tata lorry one Goodmas Mamai while at Kafu along Manafwa- Mbale road while carrying pupils of Nakhupa Primary School lost control hence overturning and killing one pupil on spot Naminayi Thomas M/J16 years of age and injuring 117 others.”kananura confirmed
He also added that the injured 117 have been rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and body of the deceased taken to the same hospital for postmortem analysis.
Kananura said that the driver is on the run while and the truck has been impounded to Manafwa police Station and investigations have already commenced.
He also said the cause of the accident is reckless driving and over speeding and also cautioned that trucks are not meant to carry passengers.
