Two people were attacked and injured near Hoima Catholic Diocese cemetery while on their way home on Wednesday night.
The victims are Simon Peter Arthur, 22 and Conrad Kwikiriza, both biological brothers and residents of Bujumbura East village, West Division, Hoima City.
It is alleged that on Wednesday (September 18) at around 5:30am, the duo while going back to their home were attacked by machete wielding assailants near a Catholic cemetery.
Emmanuel Kaahwa, Chairman LC1 for Bujumbura East said that assailants cut Atuhura in the head, neck and on the chest, causing a deep wound, while his brother Kwikiriza also sustained injuries.
The victims according to Kaahwa made an alarm which attracted residents who rushed them to Hoima referral hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, Atuhura succumbed to injuries immediately after reaching to the hospital and Kwikiriza is still nursing wounds.
The Albertine region police spokesperson, Julius Hakiza confirmed these reports stating that one suspect, Justus Asiimwe was arrested to help police in investigation. According to Hakiza, the suspect is currently detained at Hoima City CPS on alleged charges of murder and attempted murder.
