A 38-year-old woman in Otuke district was on Saturday evening killed by her husband on suspicions of engaging in extra-marital affairs with another man.
The deceased, Jane Atim a resident of Merimaki cell, Ogor subcounty, Otuke district reportedly took their child to a nearby clinic in Ogor on Friday (October 13) where she spent a night until Saturday at 9pm when they’re discharged.
This made the suspect identified as Jimmy Ogwel (husband) to become suspicious of his wife. And on her return from the hospital, the angry husband grabbed a sharp axe which he used to cut the victim over suspected cheating killing her instantly.
The North Kyoga police spokesperson, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema said the suspect was arrested and is currently detained at Otuke Central Police Station on charges of murder pending submission of his file to the area Resident Attorney for legal processing.
The deceased body was conveyed to Otuke Health Centre IV for a postmortem.
Okema condemned acts of murder arising from domestic violence in the region and appealed to the family of the deceased to maintain calmness.
“We encourage married couples always to control their tempers and call on families and relatives of the victim to keep calm,” he said.
