Uganda People’s Congress party president also the member of parliament representing City East, Hon. Jimmy Akena Obote has asked the electoral commission and security agencies to ensure a free and fair election in the Oyam North County by-election.
“I bring to you a very strong candidate. What we only need is a free and fair elections,” said Hon. Akena
He made the clarion call on Wednesday (June 28) while campaigning for the Party flag bearer for Dr. Eunice Otuko Apio on in Iceme Town Council.
The call follow several claims by different opposition groups in the Oyam North by-election which are accusing the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) of masterminding election rigging schemes in the area. Watch Video
Yesterday, the UPC campaign trail traversed the parishes of Aungu and Owiri Parishes in Iceme Sub county and Abanya and Alao Parishes in Acaba Sub County mobilizing support for Dr. Apio ahead of July 6 by-election.
Today, 29th June 2023, the UPC President will lead the campaign trial for the party’s candidate Dr. Eunice Otuko Apio to Ngai Sub county in Acut and Kulakula Parishes and thereafter touch base in other areas of Iceme Sub county.
Top party officials and former leaders in the region such as the Apac Municipality MP Hon. Ocan Patrick, former UPC Candidate for Apac District Woman MP Hon. Suzan Achola, UPC District Chairman of Apac, and former LC V Chairperson of Oyam District Hon. Adea Nelson are among other leaders expected to join the trail team today.
