A Born Again Pastor and his wife have been arrested in Jinja for allegedly killing a 4-year-old girl who had gone missing in September.
The suspects are Joseph Serubiri, a lead pastor at Deliverance and Healing Ministries Kakira and his wife Felister Namaganda, both residents of Market Zone Kakira Town Council Jinja.
They were arrested for ritual murder of Nakasuyi Trinity Nabirye Zabella, an infant girl, a daughter John Mulodi resident of the same area.
The infant girl reportedly went missing on September 30, 2021 and a case of a missing child was reported and recorded at Kakira CPS vide SD Ref. 49/01/10/2021 and attempts by parents and police to find the girl’s whereabouts remained futile despite the announcements broadcasted on Radios in Jinja and Iganga district.
According to James Mubi, the spokesperson Kira region police, the prime suspects Pastor Serubiri and his wife are tenants at the deceased parents. He said police tracked the couple’s mobile phone numbers and pleaded guilty to murder.
“After thorough interrogations, the suspects admitted having murdered the child in the church with the motive of establishing powerful deliverance church in Kakira and lead the police to where they buried the corpse,” he said.
Pastor Serubiri and his wife Namaganda are currently detained at Kakira Central Police Station pending charges.
