KAMPALA
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced planned water supply interruptions in several parts of Kampala due to scheduled power outages affecting its water production facilities.
In a public notice issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, NWSC said the interruptions are linked to power outages being undertaken by the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) to facilitate maintenance works along the Kampala North–Mutundwe transmission line.
NWSC apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to customers for patience and understanding during the maintenance period
The planned outages will run from July 16 to July 29, 2026, with electricity expected to be switched off daily from 7:00am to 6:00pm.
NWSC said the maintenance works are part of the Kampala Metropolitan Transmission Systems Improvement Project, which aims to improve the reliability of electricity supply in greater Kampala and surrounding areas.
Areas expected to experience water supply disruptions include Kawempe, Makerere, Namungoona, Kyebando, Nabweru, Kawanda, Kagoma, Lugoba, and neighbouring communities.
The corporation apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to customers for patience and understanding during the maintenance period, adding that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates where necessary.
