A planned protest against President Yoweri Museveni’s visit to Rubirizi District has collapsed after authorities infiltrated the demonstration.
The protest, allegedly orchestrated by former Bunyaruguru MP, Cadet Benjamin, aimed to disrupt the president’s visit in over unknown reasons. However, reports indicate that security neutralized the situation before any disruption could occur.
A local authority, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that intelligence reports had alerted officials to the planned chaos.
“Authorities handled the situation diplomatically without any distortion in action and communication, effectively blocking the protest,” the source stated.
President Museveni, who is currently monitoring the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM), is expected to visit the Ankole sub-region after concluding similar activities in Kigezi.
Efforts to get a comment from Benjamin Cadet were futile by press time.
