Police in Kampala has arresting 80 individuals suspected of drug use and involvement in criminal activities.
The operation was conducted on Friday morning at around 8:00 a.m.in the Central Business District hotspot area like near the Clock Tower, Good Shade, and Cooper Complex, known for criminal gatherings.
According to authorities, many of those arrested were found in possession of suspected illegal drugs.
The suspects are currently detained at CPS Kampala and are expected to be arraigned in court soon.
Speaking on the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police Patrick Onyango said the operation was conducted with the help of local leaders. He added that force’s ongoing efforts to curb crime and enhance public safety in the CBD.
“This is part of our commitment to improving security and making the city safer for everyone,” Onyango said.
Police have called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain law and order in the community.
