Police arrets man caught in video assaulting woman

Police in Natete has arrested a suspect who was captured in a video assaulting a woman.

The Kampala metropolitan police deputy spokesperson, Asp Luke Owoyesigyire has identified  the auspect as Benson Okongo.

According to Owoyesigyire, Okongo was arrested following allegations of grievous bodily harm and domestic violence reported by undisclosed person who captured Okongo live on camera committing this crime.

“In the grisly clip captured by a concerned citizen, Okongo Benson can be seen beating his wife Nagawa sauda 36, a resident of Mutundwe Hill in Kigaga zone. This incident happened on the 14/08/2021 from which, the Local authorities in the area arrested the suspect and took him to the Police station where he was detained.” Owoyesigyire said.

The suspect is currently being detained at Natete police station on allegations of grievous bodilu harm.

A case has been filed and forwarded to the Resident State Attorney (RSA) pending arraignment in courts of law.

Police says cases of domestic viiolence are at rampage sometimes leading to death, thus appealed to the victims to report all forms of domestic violence to respective authorities  as soon as possible.
