Police at Jinja road station have arrested one of their own officers for allegedly shooting his wife dead on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened at around 1715 hrs at Jinja road police barracks in Kampala on Tuesday.
The suspect allegedly shot his wife, Cpl Atino Jennifer, a police officer attached to Very Important Person Protection Unit of Police (VIPPU) using a pistol at parliament.
The suspect is AIP David Egwang, a police officer attached to Jinja road Counter Terrorism police. He allegedly used a pistol (number not yet identified) to shoot the victim.
“The cause of shooting is not yet established. The suspect is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Division awaiting interrogation,” KMP PRO Patrick Onyango said.
Further reports indicate that the couple was recently involved in a misunderstanding when the deceased accused her husband (suspect) of family neglect something that could have sparked off the incident.
