The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation into a suspected case of double murder and aggravated robbery following the brutal killing of a couple in their home in Lugonjo-Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.
According to a press statement released Monday by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the victims identified as Mutaaga David, 69, and his wife, Mutaaga Deborah Florence, 62 were found dead with multiple stab wounds inside their residence on July 6, 2025.
The killings came to light when a worker attached to the household alerted police after discovering signs of a possible attack. Law enforcement officers responded swiftly to the scene and found the lifeless bodies of the elderly couple. Crime scene teams documented the area, collected forensic evidence, and transferred the bodies to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations.
Several items believed to be of evidentiary value were recovered from the home, though police have not disclosed specifics pending ongoing forensic analysis.
“The motive behind this heinous crime is still under investigation,” said ASP Owoyesigyire. “Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects.”
Police have not ruled out robbery as a possible motive, and detectives are pursuing multiple leads as part of what authorities describe as an active and high-priority investigation.
The killings have sent shockwaves through the quiet lakeside community of Lugonjo, where residents described the couple as well-known and respected figures.
“We condemn this act in the strongest terms and wish to reassure the public that we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” Owoyesigyire added.
Authorities have called on members of the public with any information relevant to the case to come forward.
