Police have on Monday (March 14) retrieved the body of an unidentified man that was discovered floating on the shores of lake Bunyonyi.
The incident occured in Butahe village, Rutenga Parish, Kamuganguzi Sub county in Kabale District. The matter was reported to police by Francis Kitabiraza, the LC1 chairperson of Nyabyumba village after a resident identified as Ignitius informed him of a lifeless body floating on the lake shores in Butare Village.
ASP Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for Kigezi region said a homicide team from Kamuganguzi police station and Marine police managed to retrieve the body.
“We dispatched a team of homicides and with the help of marine police, the body was retrieved and taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem,” ASP Maate said
He asked families which could be having a member to visit the hospital mortuary to identify the body and take it for a descent burial.
