The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) on Wednesday (July 16) officially launched the 4th edition of the National Public Relations Symposium at the Uganda Red Cross Society Offices in Mengo, Rubaga Division Kampala.
This year’s Symposium will be held on 25th July, 2025 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, under the theme, “From Strategy to the C-Suite: Elevating PR to the Boardroom.” This will be graced by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Annet Anitah Among as Chief Guest.
The annual event that brings together PR and Corporate Communication Professionals, CEOs, Board members, Executive leaders, Government Communication Officers, Marketing and Brand Executives, Public and Corporate Affairs Specialists, as well as PR students and young practitioners, with an aim to redefine and strengthen the role of Public Relations within Uganda’s leadership and Governance landscape.
Speaking at the press conference, PRAU President Irene Nakasiita emphasized,
“The 4th National Public Relations Symposium 2025 is a call for communication professionals and leaders to reimagine PR not merely as a support function, but as a core pillar of corporate strategy, governance, and public accountability.”
She further added, “This year’s symposium will feature an inspiring lineup of keynote speakers and dynamic panel discussions, designed to elevate communication practitioners’ professional stature and prepare them for influential roles in the boardroom.”
As Uganda’s public and private sectors navigate complex challenges ranging from digital transformation and sustainability to ESG compliance and stakeholder activism, the importance of strategic communication has grown far beyond traditional media management. Organizations increasingly recognize that communication leaders must participate actively at the highest decision-making levels to shape organizational culture, manage reputation, drive transformation, and engage stakeholders effectively.
The Symposium’s key objectives include; Advocating for the inclusion of PR and communication professionals in boardrooms, C-suites, and senior executive leadership positions, demonstrating the critical role of strategic communication in business continuity, public trust, and national development.,quipping PR practitioners with the leadership skills and tools necessary to navigate governance dynamics and secure senior roles, Showcasing success stories of Ugandan communicators who have ascended to CEO, board member, or executive director positions, Fostering mentorship and networking opportunities, especially for young professionals, students, and early-career practitioners.
PRAU says registration is open to association members, the general public and students at a fee. PRAU Members are required to Pay Registration Fee of UGX 200,000, Non-Members UGX 250,000, while Students Pay UGX 70,000. A corporate Table of 10 seats is charged UGX 5,000,000
The Symposium is organized in partnership with Newmans, Qvibes, Affinity, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), and Iverse, among others.
