Raise Makerere’s flag higher, Prof Nawangwe to Mak Dons appointed PS

On Thursday evening lists of persons appointed permanent secretaries and other positions by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni awash social and mainstream media.

Among the appointed were two Makerere University Dons and others at large. The Makerere University Business School (MUBS) street economist Dr Ramadan Ggoobi was appointed permanent Secretary to the treasury (ministry of finance) and Dr Amina Zawede (PhD) also from the IvoIvory Tower Hill was appointed permanent Secretary ministry of information communication technology, National Guidance.

Makerere University had since the news of appointments not made any official communications but today Saturday July 17th, the university Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has in a short social media post congratulated the duo of their new appointments.

“I congratulate Makerere dons Amiina Zawede and Ramathan Ggoobi upon being appointed permanent secretaries by President Museveni,” Prof Nawangwe posted.

He urged the duo to keep Makerere University flag raised in their services.

“Raise Makerere’s flag higher,” he urged.

Similarly, the vice chancellor extended his congratulatory messages to Kampala International University (KIU) chancellor Prof Mahmood Mamdan, who also doubles as Makerere University former Don at the institute of research and innovations upon being ranked among the world’s great thinkers.

“I congratulate Makerere University don Mahmood Mamdani upon his recognition as one of the top 50 thinkers globally,” Prof Nawangwe said before confessing his pride in Mamdani.

“You make me proud.” Confesses Prof Nawangwe.
