The suspension of Rev. Nice Natuhwera, a curate at Nyakabirizi COU in the Diocese of West Ankole, has sparked controversy and garnered media attention. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting her mandatory retirement, the suspension comes as a result of concerns surrounding her personal conduct, the Diocese clarified.
In a press release issued by the Diocese, it was revealed that Rev. Natuhwera had been repeatedly cautioned and advised by the Diocesan leadership regarding her behavior. Despite these efforts, her actions continued to raise concerns, leading to an investigation by the Diocesan Faith and Order Committee.
The suspension of Rev. Natuhwera, which was implemented by the Bishop, aims to allow for a fair and just hearing according to the church’s legal and canonical system. The process is currently underway, and a decision will be reached after careful examination of the matter.
Addressing the media, Rev. Joseph Mweyungye, the Diocesan Secretary, clarified that the Bishop’s actions were not indicative of a mandatory retirement but rather a temporary suspension. The intent is to uphold the principles of fairness and justice while maintaining the integrity of the church.
As news of Rev. Natuhwera’s suspension spreads, opinions within the community remain divided. Some members of the congregation express disappointment, while others support the Bishop’s decision, highlighting the importance of upholding the standards and values of the church.
The Diocese of West Ankole, known for being grounded in its dedication to religious principles, is expected to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure a transparent and unbiased outcome. It is anticipated that the findings of the investigation will bring clarity and resolution to the matter.
