The three-day Rwanda-Uganda Proximity Commanders’ Conference that was held from 29th to 31st August at Hotel Las Vegas in Mbarara city concluded, with a pledge to intensify coordination and cooperation between the two nations’ armies.
Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, UPDF Commander Land Forces, expressed gratitude to Presidents Yoweri Museveni Tibuhaburwa and Paul Kagame for their guidance and support, highlighting the importance of regular meetings to address security challenges and foster harmony between the two countries.
The conference, attended by top military officials, aimed to strengthen historical ties between the RDF and UPDF, ensuring socio-economic transformation and prosperity for the people of both nations.
Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, RDF Army Chief of Staff, emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration to prevent infiltration by negative forces.
The two armies discussed border security issues and resolved to take necessary steps to promote security for border communities, nations, and the region.
The conference marked a significant step towards enhancing cooperation and coordination between Rwanda and Uganda’s armies.
