A 38-year-old Rwandan national has died in suspected suicide by vehicle crash at the Uganda – Rwanda border,Kabale district.
The incident according to police occured on February 8, 2924, at around 0930hrs at Katuna border at Katuna border, Katuna subcounty in Kabale District.
Nsengyiyumva Emmanuel, a resident of Gicumbi /Rubaya in Rwanda allegedly rammed into a low speeding trailer at URA parking in Katuna heading to Gatuna border with a deliberate intention to commit suicide leading to his death.
Vehicular suicide is the use of a motor vehicle to intentionally cause one’s own death. It may be difficult to determine if collisions like these were motivated by suicide.
“A trailer registration number KBF 211S /ZC 4317 was coming from Katuna border heading to Gatuna border Rwanda driving at a low speed, the deceased one Nsengyiyumva Emmanuel rammed into it and was crashed eventually causing his death,” police reported.
According to police, the act was deliberately done by the deceased. Nsengyiyumva’s body was retrieved and conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral hospital for postmortem.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the reports and said inquiries are ongoing.
