Sarah Aguti Nyangkori has been elected the Dokolo district Woman Member of Parliament. Aguti who contested on the Uganda People’s Congress -UPC party ticket defeated her closest rival Adongo Janet Rose Elau.
Aguti garnered 23,044 votes against Adongo’s 14,001 votes, National Resistance Movement – NRM candidate. The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC candidate, Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal got 8,168 votes. Others are Akullo Esther Obot (indep) who scored 790 votes, Ageno Harriet – NUP got 727 votes and Arao Rebecca (indep) who obtained 439 votes. The seventh candidate Grace
Aguti was declared the winner at 10:42pm by the Dokolo district Returning Officer, Erikwaine Ngobi at Dokolo DLG Council Hall.
“Accordingly, as the returning officer for Dokolo district and in accordance with Section 53 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, declare Sarah Aguti who has obtained the largest number winner and district woman representative to Parliament Dokolo electoral district,” declared Erikwaine Ngobi.
Aguti replaces the former district Woman MP late Cecilia Ogwal Barbrah Imat Atim who died on 18th January, 2024 in India of cancer related disease. She now awaits swearing in which will be announced by the speaker of parliament to start her legislation effectively.
