Another fire broke out at St. Andrew’s SS Rubindi in Mbarara last night. It was the second fire in less than a period of three weeks. The first fire had happened earlier last month destroying boy’s dormitory and other properties.

This time, the fire started in girl’s dormitory and a number of properties worth millions have been lost in the fire.

St.Andrews Rubindi Secondary School is located in Rubindi Ruhumba Town council , Mbarara District.

Last month, a case of fire outbreak was reportrd at this school after it gutted the boys Dormitories  occupied by  senior one and two students, the cause of the fire was not established

On Tuesday (July 12), Reverend Fr.Felix Bikwasizehi, the parish priest of Rubindi Catholic Parish  revealed that the fire started at around 10:00PM on Monday night.

The fire gitted girl’s dormitory, he added but said that by the time of this incident all the students were in reading rooms attending  night preps.

Meachel Bayo, the school Headteacher has said that the fire was extinguished by the policefire and rescue team stating that no body was infected by the flames

Fire outbreak has been registered by Rwizi Region in Mbarara and other neighbouring districts. Tbese include Dormitories at Mbarara Secondary School in Nyamityobora ward ,Mbarara city , Mbarara View High School in Katete Mbarara city, Rushanje Girls secondary school in Rweibogo cell , Rweibogo ward in Bugamba Subcounty’ Rwampara District and St .Andrews Secondary School in Rubindi Ruhumba Town council, Mbarara District, affected two times
