Police in Lira District has arrested a private security guard attached to Alpha Security Company over allegation of abandoning his gun at a fuel station along Lira Siroti Highway.
The Lira District Police Commander Geoffrey Abigaba has identified the suspect as Bosco Odongo who allegedly abandoned the gun at Shine Energy Patrol station in Boroboro along Lira Soroti highway where he was deployed to guard on Monday night.
He was arrested after police was alerted that he had got drunk and abandoned his gun.
Abigaba said by the time police picked Odongo on Tuesday morning, he was still drunk.
Gerald Odongo a resident of the area castigated the unprofessional action of the security guard adding that he should be sacked.
No communication had been issued by Alpha security group regarding this incident.
