Shs 98b required to reopen schools.

The MoES Uganda has proposed for Shs 98b required to reopen all schools and  and education institutions across the country.

According to the ministry the proposed funds is to support all education institutions, (both private and public) at all levels with Standard Operations Procedures requirements.

Uganda’s Mining Ambitions Must Not Come at the Expense of Communities

Additionally, the ministry suggests that the proposal will enable schools provide additional classrooms required to meet the SOPs, latrines,  desks and provide salaries for all additional teachers and support staff including schools nurses.

 Ismail Mulindwa,  the Director of Basic Education who doubles as the head of MoES Task force says the amount is not attainable owing to  the current situation in the country.

He however says there’s another proposal for Shs1.7bn as a required for only reopening candidate classes and final year students in public schools and institutions respectively.

Mulindwa says the me ministry Taskforce is in consultations with the key stakeholders on the proposed amounts whereafter a final report will be submitted to the government.
