Ole Gunnar Soljaer and Jurgen Klopp have entered the break off their duties with huge disappointments following embarassing defeat in the English Premier League which happened on Sunday evening.

Manchester United were humiliated 6-1 by Tottenham at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho inflicted their joint-worst defeat in the Premier League era before Liverpool were comprehensively beaten 7-2 by Aston Villa at Villa Park as they suffered their first loss of the 2020-21 top-flight campaign.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the victim of a footballing massacre in Manchester after suffering his darkest hour at Old Trafford as his spineless United flops were left with faces as red as their shirts following their biggest hammering since 2011.

United had been reduced to 10 men before half time, but this had little bearing on the eventual outcome as the French striker Anthony Martial was sent off following his misconduct in the course of the game. The team Solskjaer selected was logical enough and he was let down by individual errors. But he did nothing as Spurs ran riot in the first-half and by then the game was over.

Bruno Fernandez opener in the early game was let down by Heung Min Son (2 goals)Harry Kane (2 goals) Serge Aurier (1 goal) and Tanguy Dombele (1 goal) as London based club claimed a huge victory over their Manchester rivals.

Later Jurgen Kloop’s side were beaten by Dean Smith’s side at Villa park as Ollie Watkins scored his first Premier League hatrick plus John McGinn strike to make it 4 goals before half time break. The reds were left helpless in the second half as the hosts added more 3 goals through Ross Barkley and the man of the match Jack Grealish (2 goals). A goal in each half from Mohammad Salah acted as a consolation for the reds.

This was the first time Liverpool have conceded seven goals in a match in all competitions since April 1963 in a 7-2 league defeat at Tottenham, while it was the second time Aston Villa have netted seven times in a single Premier League game, after a 7-1 win over Wimbledon in February 1995.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool – the Reds Boss.

Watkins was the 10th player to score a Premier League hat-trick against Liverpool, and the first since Dimitar Berbatov in September 2010 while Jack Grealish is only the second Aston Villa player to assist three goals in a single Premier League game, after James Milner v Burnley in February 2010.

Andy Robertson admitted Liverpool’s performance in the 7-2 defeat at Aston Villa fell way below the standards expected at the club.

“We’re all very disappointed, we have to step it up”, Virgil van Dijk said after massive defeat.

“We never dreamed of getting a result like this. The performance was outstanding from start to finish. We created an awful lot of chances against an exceptional defence and team. We had to work very hard.” Villa boss Dean Smith said.

The Red devils have registered 2 losses in 3 games and are 16th on the Premier League table while 5th placed Liverpool count 1 loss in 4 games in the 2020-21 campaign.

After international break on 17th October, Liverpool will travel to Goodison park to play on-form Everton in a Merseyside Derby whereas Solsjaer boys will visit Newcastle at St James park.
