The National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced they will not be fielding a candidate in the forthcoming Soroti East parliamentary by election, party President Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has said
According to the party officials, they belive that FDC’s Moses attan won the Soroti East in the 2021 election, but his victory was unlawfully nullified by court.
They say that they will now back Hon. Attan and will mobilise NUP supporters to vote for him.
“We have taken the decision not to field a candidate in the upcoming by-election for Soroti East Constituency in Soroti City.”
As the National Unity Platform, we will back the FDC candidate, Hon. Attan Moses, it added.
NUP says that although it had very potential candidates for the by-election, they are doing this in the broader interest of the unity of the forces of change.
Attan will now be facing with NRM’s Herbert Ariku Edmund among other candidates
