Stanbic Bank has unveiled a scholarship programme ahead of the Stanbic Ongea Digital Creators Summit 2025, set for December 11, in a bid to empower Uganda’s fast-growing creator economy.
The initiative, announced at a press briefing at Onomo Hotel, underscores the bank’s commitment to supporting the government’s digital transformation strategy and fostering a vibrant digital market ecosystem.
Lois Aber Kwikiriza, Stanbic’s Marketing and Brand Manager for CIB & BCB, said the scholarships will equip creators with “world-class capabilities to grow, monetise, and professionalise their work,” adding that the programme reflects Stanbic’s broader youth empowerment agenda.
The annual Stanbic Digital Content Creator Prize will feature five categories:
Creator of the Year,Premium Professional Course, Emerging Creator Award – Short Course, Social Impact Creator Award – Mid-Level Course, Entertainment Excellence Award ,Motion Graphics & Animation, Financial Literacy Creator Award, Business & Management Insights.
Kwikiriza noted that the awards align with Stanbic’s Women, Youth and Farmers (WYF) Agenda, a UGX 1 trillion three-year programme launched mid-2025 to expand access to credit, enterprise growth support, and digital inclusion.
Organised by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Ongea Africa, and the Uganda Digital Society, with Stanbic Bank as lead sponsor, the summit is designed to provide young creators with digital skills, business capacity, financial literacy, and responsible content practices.
Joseph Kanyamunyu of Ongea Africa described the summit as “not just an event, but a national development platform,” highlighting the Ongea Skills Lab which will deliver training in digital and business skills.
Meanwhile, UCC will use the summit to raise awareness on licensing, regulation, and digital safety. Kenneth Tweheyo, UCC’s Head of Competition and Consumer Affairs, said: “We support platforms like the Ongea Summit, because they encourage responsible content creation, digital safety, and innovation. Together, we can grow a safe, inclusive, and empowered digital ecosystem.”
Stanbic Bank reiterated its purpose, “Uganda is our home; we drive her growth,” with Kwikiriza emphasizing that the UGX 1 trillion investment over the next three years will expand opportunities for young Ugandans, particularly in the digital creator space.
The summit is expected to attract hundreds of young innovators, entrepreneurs, and content creators, positioning Uganda’s creator economy as a key driver of digital transformation and sustainable economic growth.
