The four-day annual retreat for Supreme Court and Court of Appeal justices concluded successfully today. The retreat, which commenced on Tuesday at Las Vegas Hotel in Mbarara City, provided an opportunity for the justices to reflect on their work and strategize for the future.
In presenting their joint resolutions, Hon. Justice Richard Buteera, the Deputy Chief Justice, announced and congratulated Justice Catherine Bamugemereire and Justice Monica Mugenyi on their elevation to the Supreme Court as new entrants.
Justice Buteera urged the judges to consider the ideas shared during the week-long retreat to improve their working standards. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and continuous learning, encouraging judges to use every case as a learning experience by consulting their colleagues.
“Let us ensure that we live by the judicial oath and uphold the highest standards of conduct as we carry out our duties,” he reminded the judges.
The retreat provided a valuable platform for the justices to engage in meaningful discussions, enhance their skills, and strengthen their commitment to justice.
