A suspected thief has been killed in a mob justice in Kabura village Kabale diocese after he allegedly stolen a pig from a neighboring village.
Police preliminary reports indicate that Crispus Nhabwe aka Gaddafi (the suspect), a resident of Makanga cell Butobere wardin Kabale and a Boda Boda rider by occupation was on Monday night caught red handed stealing a pig in Omutaba village but took on heels.
Residents then followed him with alarms which alerted neighbors in Kabura cell where he met an angry mob that blew off his candle.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed to the incident saying that a case of murder was first reported by Philip Batomwe, 76, a resident of Kitumbi who notified the police.
According to Maate, police visited the scene of the crime picked the deceased body and taken it to Kabale referral hospital for a postmortem meanwhile as the search for the unknown killers and the stolen pig is ongoing.
This is a second incident of murder in Kabale in a course of less than one week. Five people were on Sunday arrested for allegedly beating to death three persons suspected to have stolen a pig.
But, it was later established that the trio; Akampurira, Akampumuza and Niwagaba were innocently murdered after the alleged stolen pig was found at the complainant’s home the next day.
