A 39-year-old teacher in Kanungu district has died after she allegedly took poison.
Alistidia Ampereza, a resident of Bushura Village, Eastern Ward, Kanungu Town Council, Kanungu district committed the stressful act on February 29.
It is alleged that on the fateful day, the deceased returned to home from work when she found her stepdaughter a one Doreen Naturinda peeling matooke and asked her to leave the kitchen and she assits in preparing the food. It’s during the that she allegedly took poison.
“After like one hour, the victim called one Blessing Tugumisirize, her brother in-law staying together in the same house that she was feeling severe stomach pain after vomiting. She told him to get for her charcoal powder and not to inform any body about her illness,” Police reported.
This prompted the brother in-law to notify his uncle, the deceased husband who was not at home. The deceased was rushed to Makiro HCIII where she died on March 1 at around 0130hrs l.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate confirmed this report and added that the body was taken to Kanungu HCIV for a postmortem.
Police led by D/SP Dauda OCCID Kanungu visited the crime scene was visited and documented, and recorded relevant witnesses statements recorded at crime scene.
“Postmortem was done at kanungu health centre IV mortuary. Relevant samples collected pending submission to forensic lab for analysis,” Maate explained.
He added that inquiries are ongoing to to establish the cause of Ampereza’s death.
