Two people have been confirmed dead following a deadly accident along Mbarara – Masaka road. The accident occured in Sanga Town Council on Friday morning at 11am.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occured when a Fuso milk tanker registration number UBB 905 coming from Masaka side collided with another Fuso trucker registration number UBG 727P which was coming from Mbarara killing two people on spot.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson identified the victims as Eric Mugabe, 48, a resident of Kyazanga in Lwengo district and Abubakar Gumisiriza, a resident of Isingiro district. The driver of a milk tanker motor vehicle, whose identity remains unknown survived with severe injuries and was rushed to Mbarara Referral Hospital
“Bodies were taken by the deceased relatives from Kyazanga before police arrived at the scene,” Kasasira reported
Police attributed the cause of accident to reckless driving by the two drivers.
