Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) said two people died in a plane crash that involved their helicopter on Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement by Brig. Gen. Felix M Kulayigye, the Updf spokesperson, he identified the deceased as a pilot in the helicopter and a civilian.
Earlier this day, a Updf Mi-28 attack helicopter dropped from the sky and crashed on the house of a resident in Karuguta Ntoroko district before burning into ashes.
Maj. Naboth Mugisha, spokesperson for the Updf Airforce said the helicopter was heading to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to fight Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
The force did not divulge into details of the crew who died in the crash saying they will first inform his family.
“Identities of the crew shall be made available after informing the next of kin,” Kulaigyye said.
