The hand of death has struck Kansanga based University KIU after the blacksmith news of the sudden deaths of her two graduate Engineering Students.
The deceased are among the Nine people who were confirmed dead in a building which collapsed under construction in Lukuli-Nanganda in Kiwempe, Makindye Division.
They have been identified as Muwaya Tadeo, Graduated in Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Twine Duncan Karuba, also a Graduate in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Both students graduated from KIU in 2018.
The deceased bodies are still at Mulago HospitalMortuary waiting for funeral arrangements.
An anonymous source from Muwaya’s family told parrotsug that the family is still stranded with the body since they can’t raise money yo transport the body to Iganga.
Yesterday, media platforms were awashed with heart breaking news of the collapse building under construction in Kiwempe Makindye Division. The incident happened on the night of Saturday 9thMay,2020.
Over 20 people are feared dead with many suspected to be still trapped in rubbles.
According to the Police fire and rescue services at the scene, 8 bodies were discovered trapped in rubbles and three persons rescued and rushed to Mulago where one died moments after arriving at the hospital.
So far, 9 people are confirmed dead, two still receivingtreatments.
Our reporters at the scene say Police is still at the scene as search for more other people suspected to be trapped in rubbles is ongoing.
Residents and Experts who visited the scene blamed the incident on poor construction materials used and the irregular speed used inconstructing the building.
The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) department of Physical Planning noted that it had earlier in March stopped construction works at the site, however, the developer Abraham took advantage of the COVID-19 situation to continue construction works.
